Sunshine School Uniform Policy (Planned)

Once approved, Sunshine Charter School aims to establish a uniform policy to foster a cohesive and disciplined environment. Our planned uniforms will be designed to reduce distractions, promote equality, and enhance a sense of school identity. To ensure that all families can easily comply with this policy, Sunshine Charter School will provide school uniforms free of cost to every student.

Uniform Specifications:

Boys:

  •  Shirts: Navy blue with a white line and white collar, featuring the Sunshine logo. Available in long and short sleeves.

  • Pants:

  • Elementary: Short navy-blue pants.

  • Middle and High School: Long navy-blue pants.

  • Tie: Navy blue.

  • Shoes: Black.

Girls:

  • Punjabi Style:

  • Top: Navy blue Punjabi with white line, long sleeves.

  • Shalwar: Navy blue.

  • Scarf: White.

  • Alternative Western Style:

  • Shirt: White with navy blue linen and white collar, available in both long and short sleeves.

  • Skirt: Options include a navy short skirt or a long skirt.

  • Leggings: Navy (optional).

  • Shoes: Black.

Compliance and Enforcement:

  •  Uniforms should be worn neatly and kept in good condition. Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary actions aligned with our school’s future code of conduct.

Sunshine School Disciplinary System (Planned)

  • Sunshine Charter School plans to implement a disciplinary system that supports a safe and respectful learning atmosphere conducive to academic and personal growth.

Objective
The primary goal of our disciplinary policy is to establish a safe, respectful, and conducive learning environment that promotes educational excellence and character development.

Core Principles

  1. Respect and Responsibility: Every student is expected to uphold values of respect, responsibility, and regard for the school community.
 
 2.   Fairness and Equality: Disciplinary measures are applied equally and fairly to all students, ensuring transparency and consistency in their execution.

Behavioral Expectations

  • Students are expected to behave in a manner that is respectful to both peers and staff.

  • Proper conduct is expected in classrooms, during school activities, and on school property.

Prohibited Behaviors

  • Disruption of classes

  • Bullying or harassment of any kind

  • Vandalism or damage to school property

  •  Possession or use of prohibited items such as weapons or illicit substances

Intervention Strategies

  • Preventive Measures: Programs and workshops on social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional self-regulation.

  • Counseling: Access to counseling services for behavior modification.

  • Peer Mediation: Encouraging students to resolve conflicts through guided peer mediation.

Disciplinary Actions

  • Verbal Warning: For minor infractions.

  • Written Warning: For repeated or serious infractions.

  • Detention: For more serious breaches of school rules.

  • Suspension: Considered for severe violations affecting the school’s operation or safety.

  • Expulsion: As a last resort and in accordance with school board policies and local education regulations.

Due Process

  • Students have the right to explain their side of the story to a neutral party.

  • A formal review process for serious disciplinary actions, involving parents and students.

  • Clear communication of disciplinary outcomes and the reasons behind them.

Parental Involvement

  •  Regular updates to parents regarding their child’s behavior and any disciplinary actions.

  • Involvement of parents in behavioral intervention plans and strategies.

  • Workshops for parents on supporting positive behavior at home.

Review and Adaptation

  • Continuous review and adaptation of disciplinary policies based on feedback from the school community and changes in educational standards.

  • Our disciplinary actions are free from any discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics, ensuring a supportive environment for all students.
